I haven't seen my Midas Blenny since about 2 pm yesterday. He's a pig and never misses a feeding and is probably my most active fish. I have glass tops so I doubt he's jumped but i still checked everywhere around the tank and nothing. Nothing in the tank that could have killed him either. Could be hiding in a hole but he's not in his usual spots. Everything else is extremely healthy. Would he float or die in a crevice?

2 clowns
1 yellow eye Kole tang
1 juvenile snowflake eel
1 diamond Goby

How big and hungry is the snowflake eel? Just thinking of possibilities.
Snowflake is maybe 5-6 inches long. Eel gets fed every 2-3 days. Thought also crossed my mind but my Blenny is 2x thicker than my eel and not really capable of fitting in my eels mouth

He could be hiding due to the Kole tang. I had a whitetail bristletooth that was fine for well over a year. Then he started chasing all the herbivores except my other tangs. It was like it snapped and went from 0 to 10 on the aggression scale. He especially chased the midas.

I quickly got a fish trap (can also be used later as a social acclimation box) and rehomed the bristletooth.

The 1st indication of his aggression was my midas disappearance. My midas was terrified,it hid in a new bolthole for days till I captured the tang.

I think you may be on to something. I've seen my Tang be aggressive towards my goby but my Blenny always seemed to hide when my Tang is grazing. The Blenny always just hid in the same spot so he was easy to find and always came out for feeding. I'll give it a couple days and see if he makes an appearance

I work from my house so I get to observe my tank a lot. I posted about my midas hiding & not eating. Thanks to several members of the reef squad -they told me to suspect the whitetail. I caught him bullying. The chasing was sneaky & sporadic at first. Then in the next several days it escalated. He relentlessly went after my hawkfish, blenny & some other small fish. Luckily the reef squad told me to be prepared to trap & relocate it. Their advice saved my other fish from extreme stress & attack.
I always throughly research my fish before stocking. I am seeing more & more posts about bristletooth tangs becoming bullies. For some the bullying is mild chasing (or non-existent) . But other cases (like mine) it escalates.

Midas usually fly out of the bolthole at feeding times. If you don't see it, search for it with a flashlight to see if it is hiding in a new area. And watch the Kole tang.

Check the overflow always. The Midas blennies I have ever had have gone missing suddenly and I’ve had to assume dead. For some reason, I have noted that a lot of fish are never found in large heavy rock work tanks.[emoji848]

One of the first places I looked! Unfortunately I think he's just hiding but I'll know for sure at feeding time today

Check sump (if you have one), filter socks, ect. Check in the sand, or the corner of the tank. When mine is stressed he hides in corners. Good luck
