So my LFS has both of these, the midas the gold variant. I have a 3o gallon (3 foot tank) tank is nine months old. Anybody have experience with either? Pros, cons? Does the canary blenny swim smoothly, similar to the Midas? Any input will help in my decision.

Everytime I have had my as blennies or know people that have, they seem to become more reclusive overtime. To begin with they are always out swimming but once settled mine find a nice hole and spend most of the time there. The one I have now, I hardly ever see as it has a hole at the back of the tank and the food goes right past it when I feed.
my experience of fang blennies only relates to the striped but it was always out centre stage and slowly moving about. So whilst I don't think with either choice you will lose out (midas slightly more comical but fang more out there) I'd probably go for the fang.

I think the Midas Blenny is an amazing fish with a lot of personalty as well as a unique body and motion. I'm not much of a fan of the canary, but it isn't because of any legitimate complaint.

I have a Midas in one of my tanks for over a year now. Very active and fun fish to watch. He does have a hole in the rocks he hides in, but it is kind of funny when he pops only his head out to stare at me when I am doing something near the tank. Out of the fish we have or had, the Midas is my wife's favorite. Think the only thing she liked more was the blue spot jawfish that didn't live that long since I have terrible luck with all jawfish.

Thanks guys, honestly the only reason it was ever a debate is because they sold the Midas and only had the canary left. I've wanted a Midas blenny three years before I even had a tank, when I first saw the 12 gallon office tank (YouTube it). I'll wait until I find a Midas.
