Hello all,

We have two Midas blennies. One that we bought large and has gained a lot of width. Our new blenny was translucent when we got him. We didn’t think he would make it. So we set about to feed them hardy. Currently they are in separate systems.

The new one that is small is getting long but has remained skinny. It was practically transparent when we got it. Currently we feed a combination of food, frozen shrimp and copepods.Any feeding suggestions to help it flatten up in the middle? We like our fish fat. :)

Well, pudgy.

PS
Is there ANY way to sex them? I would love a pair. They are so beautiful and elegant

I've had mine for over a year & it hasn't fattened up at all, just nice & healthy.
feed it LRS,Mycis,Brine, pellets & flake

Sounds like a pretty good diet! I have to say I recommend the blue zoo flake food - everybody loves it. And I believe I’ve seen all our fish deepen in color.

I’d love to hear more about what your feeding? Would love to see it too!

Our bigger one has a bit of a belly - maybe from the copepods? But he seems very healthy!

The little one is chasing the copepods too. I think he just hasn’t had enough time.

Oh he’s beautiful! I have a real heart throb for this kind of fish!

Here's another one, he was renting out the lower levels to a pr of Wheelers gobies for awhile but they moved out back to their 2nd home.

If you have any advice about Midas blennies don’t be shy! We adore them!

I have 2 sets but sometimes they disappear for awhile, Even months at a time. they will roam the entire tank at times. I had 3 living together for awhile. I think the wife kicked him out but she took him back later.

Add Selcon or vitachem to your fish food and just make sure the blenny is getting enough food to eat. Watch it eat make sure no other fish are stealing from it.

Don't worry about their size as long as they're stomachs are sunken inward. They come in all shapes and sizes. Feed good food and they will endure. They ate considered omnivores so they do like a little algae now and then. I tried giving mine sheets of seaweed, but she ignored it completely. Mine lives on frozen mysis, brine, and a multi mixture concoction. Definitely one of my favorite fish in the tank.
