I was thinking of getting a Midas Blenny to go into my 40 gallon breeder. The current inhabitants are some crabs, snails, and an ocellaris clownfish. I would be purchasing the Blenny with a small ocellaris to replace one I lost in QT prior. Future fish I'm thinking about are a basslet of some type. Either black cap or royal gramma. And a flasher wrasse. Flasher wrasses are the easier to care for species of wrasse correct? I was also considering a dwarf angel but I don't think I'm going to get one in the end. I'd like to have one more fish to round out that list so I'm open to suggestions. Overall I'd have

2 ocellaris clownfish
1 Midas Blenny
1 basslet
1 flasher wrasse

And possibly one more fish.

Midas blenny is a great choice, they will jump, you need a top on your tank if you want to keep this fish. Otherwise you will be sad when its dead and dried up on the floor. This happened to me, now I have my tank screened in so it cant jump out.

I have one of the BRS screen tops on my tank and love it. I don't think there's any way even a small snail could get out through the top.

I forgot to ask in the op, but will a Midas Blenny and a small ocellaris clown be okay together in a 10 gallon QT tank? I'd like to get them both since live aquaria has a minimum order value and I need to get another ocellaris clown soon so they will pair up easily.

I have a clownfish and a midas blenny in my system, there is rarely any aggression between them. The only aggression is see is between my midas blenny and anthias or chalk bass during feeding, but it's typically not that bad.

a 10g isn't huge but I'm not sure it needs to be much larger for only two small fish. I would have some pipes or rocks for them to hide in, the midas blenny like to hide in tubes/crevices in rock.

I have a Midas with all the fish you just mentioned. Great fish and no problems at all.

As for another fish how about a Bangaii Cardinal?

The clown and midas will be fine in a 10g qt together.

Other fish options would be yellow assessor, barnacle blenny, sunburst anthias, or yellowhead jawfish.

I had forgotten about bangaii cardinals. I think I will get one of those or the yellow assessor. Both are great suggestions. The yellow assessor is a bit pricey for me though lol. We will see how my new additions do first before I get any expensive fish. I sadly lost a firefish I had in QT last night. Symptoms matched brooklynella but I thought that odd.
