So I know very little and need to research keeping this but I know a little bit.

The center of my tank I have a pillar and the top of that pillar is an inch away from the water level. So I thought it would be cool if I put a mangrove or two there!!

Are there benefits or negative effects with mangroves?

Can people share their experiences and pictures please?! Thanks

It would be under a 6 bulb T5

Thanks!

I have several on two tanks and have for about a year now.

On the plus side, they look pretty.

On the minus side:
A) They have to be misted frequently or they die.
B) They grow pretty slow compared with macro algae and really do not do a lot for nutrient export.
C) You have to get rid of the leafs as they shed or they can fall back into the tank and decay which releases the nutrients again.

On the plus side. They look pretty.

Growing my little mangrove forest in my refugium. 24 hour lighting. I do mist them with fresh water and trim them when they get too close to the light. Im hoping they grow smaller leaves and branch out more. Like a mangrove bonsai! They do shed leaves but not hard to clean up.
