How did your test go? Did you see a difference with the pump off ?

For sure went down to about 74 the other day

Does your pump have a run/start capacitor as if they start to fail the motor will draw more current in the windings and heat up. It will also definitely lose efficiency. Worth a look.

My pump is like at least 10 years old I bought it used and don't know anything about it but I do know it doesn't seem to struggle with providing enough flow for my tank

Could you send a picture if possible and maybe identify what type of ac motor it is?

I could when I get home looks generic though
