So amazing Google always brings me here!
I just received my IM Mighty Jet 538 midsize return pump for my Waterbox that'll be here the end of May early June..
I figured I'd better fill the kitchen sink up and make sure it works. Plugged it in and nothing! All I could hear was a vruuu, vruuu,...... And the controller was counting up and then show E5 and then repeat 5-6 times before finally shutting down and showing a solid E5.
Found this thread and figured I'd share what got this thing going for me. First off I read the pictures and followed the instructions that
@Jaag posted, thanks man!
Even though the pictures show a different impeller I followed them. With the housing off I plugged the pump in. This time I could see the impeller try to start and had to give it a help to spin :/
So took it apart and this time I grabbed my tube of Molykote 111 and dipped the bottom shaft that seats into the rear of the pump into the tube to get a good amount on the bottom shaft that sits in the bushing. Then used a toothpick to apply some grease just under the impeller to touch the shaft. I slid the impeller up and down a few times and rotated it in my hand and could feel the grease worked into the tiny spot and could feel it was very smooth.
Assembled the pump and plugged it in and dang I had water hitting the ceiling lol.. like literally!
So everyone needs to have a tube of this Molykote 111 for moments like this. I originally ordered the grease after finding out that ecotech use it as a break in lube for their Vortech pumps.
Sorry a little long winded but hopefully this helps others that encounter this issue.
