I recently moved and had to experience storing all my coral and fish for 10 days between homes. So glad to say I’m set back up and everybody seems to be doing great. My other tank is next.
One problem I am having is I noticed red cyano keeps covering a rock in the back right and even a little on the big rock right in the center.
I have a fluval 406 canister running full open. I figured that should be sufficient water movement at 383 gph. The fluval has the standard foam filters and polishing pads, but the third tray is full of matrix and the forth tray has small rock frags.
I added a jebao slw-10 also running at full speed. That’s just blowing my sand bed up into dunes.
I wish I could just figure out what I need to do to solve my red cyano problem without having to use chemiclean. It works for a time. But it’ll come back.
But I’m really happy with the look overall. I’m going to add a few more corals on small rocks to the far right to try and stop the sand from exposing the bottom.
Yesterday I started adding Macrobacter once a day for two weeks.

My livestock are 2 clowns, orange spotted goby and pistol shrimp, six line wrasse, banded shrimp and a dozen hermit crabs.
I’m going to add some more hermit crabs and some small snails soon.
Am I maxed out on fish? Or does the larger canister help offset adding another critter like a red ruby scooter?
