Thank you for the write up. A couple years ago I almost threw in the towel. Until I said "self, it's suppose to be fun". Since then I have followed most of your "rules" but when I see a tank like yours compared to mine I get frustrated again. But things are getting better and I know I will be successful if I stick with it. Which goes along with being patient!

I really like your Keys to Success in the Reef Keeping world. I'm stealing some ideas. LoL. Even more than 10 yrs of keeping a reef, I'm reminded that I only know a little still.

Well said, especially the part about reef keeping seeming more like a chore at times than an enjoyable hobby. Sometimes it takes those 5 steps back to take 1 step forward but in the end its all worth it.

We took some time this weekend to rearrange a few corals (some were getting too much light, others, not enough) and did a bit of pruning. Here's an updated FTS:

Mke and Terry, outstanding job on the tank. When I picture my tank two years from now as a sps dominated setup I hope mine looks half as nice as yours. One thing I have finally learned in this hobby and it only took my stubborn self ten years to figure it out is patience. Slow and steady is so much more successful in the long run and your tank and progression of growth is proof of that. Inspiring read, thank you.

I've been searching threads to help with my aqua scaping plans and I love the island look and will definitely be copying some ideas.
