Hey Mike,
Can you tell me how long the orange tree sponge in the softie tank has been with you? Any specific care requirements?
Thank you, again, both tanks are outstanding!!!
Cheers

I only had that in the tank for about a year then lost it? Never was able to get another one

Cool,
Just picked one up yesterday, I was told they typically don't last long, but I had to snag it, due to it looking prime for my scape in my current setup. I will try phyto and maybe get some kz sponge power.
Thanks again

IMOP we can't provide enough food to filter feed them while exporting enough nutrients not to mess up the rest of our glass boxes.
Best of luck with it and enjoy it while you have it just keep a eye on your nutrients.

Beautiful tank Mike. Genuinely an inspiration for (what I hope) is an upcoming build. There is lots of great advice in here, too.

As someone new to the hobby, this is really inspiring. I love the look of softies, I want something the moves and sways in the flow. I just set up my first planted tank. Please checkout my build log I started. I would love your feedback!

Thanks!

I have made a personal decision to brake my tanks down and exit the hobby.

A good friend and expert reefer summed it up perfectly buy saying

" Sometimes in life you have to let go of what you love In order to start the next chapter"

This really hit home and has helped me greatly.

I have made this decision to go out on top,(I Don't mean to sound pompous, but by "on top" I mean the best that I could ever imagine my tank to be) Every thing was still very healthy and happy in my tank.

This decision is under my control rather than an unfortunate incident or situation.

I want to thank everyone I ever met in this hobby who has helped me in any way over the years. Please know It is greatly appreciated and I hope I was able to do the same in return.

Most of my coral are sold or pending locally and I will not be shipping them to anyone under any circumstances.

My tank impressed me and in the end that is what was important.

If anything ells I hope I was able to share and spread some love, beauty and appreciation for the soft coral reef tank.

~Best wishes to all

Oh man...this is so sad, but I definitely get it. I'm going to miss this reef so much! Best of luck to you with this next chapter, Mike! I wish you all the success in this next phase that you have had with your reef hobby.

Wow. I've never seen this tank in person, never met you personally but I have to say I'm really sad to hear this. You have been and will continue to be not only a real inspiration, in particular when it comes to soft corals, but also one of the most beautiful display tanks showcased online. Of course you sps tanks have been great too.

It was always exciting when you posted an update either here or on youtube - I hope you have shot at least one more full video tour before taking everything down. While I am personally disappointed there will be no more updates, I do agree that you are going out on top and wish you the best of luck in whatever comes next for you. I'm sure you didn't make this choice lightly and have lots coming up in the time you otherwise would have spent with your tanks.

so sorry to see you and the take go. but like you said better to go out on top and by your own decision.

thank you for this take its one of my all time favorites. I do hope the ppl that got the coral create another masterpiece.

be well my friend!

This is my favorite tank on here and has provided lots of inspiration to me and I am sure to many others. Sad to see it coming down but definitely understand. After more losses to another hurricane I am considering stepping away from the hobby also. We will always have this well documented thread for reference and future inspiration. I wish you well sir and thanks for showing us all how it is done.

Sad to see you go.
Your softy tank inspired me to start setting up a softy tank again and is one of my favorite tanks.
Nice to see someone set up a tank just for the corals that look nice and are not just trendy 1000 dollar a polyp stuff which is getting old and tiring.
Good thing is it seems to be swing back to people setting up tanks just to set up a nice tank with nice looking corals.
I think the prices are forcing people back to just doing a nice looking reef aquariums again and not ones based on just money.

I concur with the group, You have been an inspiration to us all with your beautiful tanks. We def. will all miss you around here. Great to hear that you have locally homed your stuff and exiting the hobby was not because of some sort of tank failure. Best wishes on your next chapter.

Thank you for sharing your insights and expertise in this hobby. I pray that your next chapter be as successful as this one! Good luck and you will be missed!

This thread has helped me out multiple times with issues I've had on my own tank. I've really enjoyed learning from you and getting a see your tanks. Thanks for the inspiration, good luck on your next adventure.

p.s. if that yellow toadstool falls through I'd pay an inappropriate amount for it as I've looked for one and can't find it. Although if my husband asks, it was on sale.
