I second this, sadly. It does look like being munched on.

the pieces that look munched on aren't reachable.
the bigger one at the top doesn't show anything on the edges.
bleaching is a half inch off the edge.
flashlight search this morning, lights out for five hours, shows nothing.

there are also a few smaller pieces i fragged off of my first monti months ago, no pics as to where they are in the tank, that have completely bleached.

Anything new added? They could have come in on that, if that is what is doing it. But if you did not see any during lights out, do you have any fish that could be perching on them for extended periods of time? Only asking, as typically all of my montis having issues have always started at the edges and went it. Not saying it cannot happen away from the edge, just has not in my experiences of messing things up.

red hawk and a clown goby.
but they don't stay in one place long enough.
always adding new stuff. but everything gets dipped. ( i know, won't kill eggs)
what's weird is, it's only the plating monti's. the encrusters are fine... so far.
and all, but two, are being affected and they are wide spread through out the tank.

wife sez it's Big Eye Todd (her name for the tang) that's hitting the monti's.
Like witnessed it munching on it in a healthy area? Or saw it munch on it at a bald spot?

If bald spot, it is just picking algae off. If healthy spot, not good.

healthy spot.
not any visible algae, besides the glass, anywhere in the tank.

no. i feed from the scrubber.
If it is the tang, wonder if it is due to it wanting some mineral or something the monti has? I say try some nori for a few days and see what happens. Nori is full of iodine, magnesium and a ton of other things the fish needed.

Good morning splam, because I can. And I haven't taken a visit to the dark side in awhile. I have never been able to get this angle of the bta. There's a nice mouth in there, somewhere hidden away.

Edit: I guess I need to go get the camera from upstairs, that's a lot of work....
