I was thinking of trying to graft 2 mills I have together and am looking for some insight from everyone. Does this work out well? What is the best way 2 do so? How does it typically turn out looking long term? Basically just looking for 1st hand experience from you guys and if at all possible some pics thanx

As far as I know the consensus here is it doesn't work. They fight and one of them always starts to peel.

It can be done. This is from Garett's Acropolis

I have not tried actual grafting but my Rose and Sunset Milli's get along quite well. Have been looking for another to mix in hopefully in the Blue variety.

Sorry i havnt replied yet! Thanx for the inputas well! Thats the thing there isnt a consensus lol oterwise i wulda jus went with the obvious info. Well i set a piece of 1 against the side of the other colony and for the past 4or5 days theyve been totally fine and i have plenty enough to where a small piece of each isnt gonna bum me out if it doesnt work out so heck its worth a try. I can always cut and seperate them later if they begin 2 sting eachother, the possibility of a positive outcome is worth how awesome itll look if so. That pic is awesome btw! I think a purple/red with blue polyps up against a maroon with bright green polyps would look incredible

I think if you cut 2 pieces and mount the base together and let them fuse then the grow from the fuse become 2 tone.

A lot of the grafts you see out there are not "man-made". If you haven't heard about GFP check it out the article on Reefbuilders

I love the look of grafted corals thats y ima go ahead and try this it would be incredible if it works out! Ive read plenty on gfp if ur referring to green fluorescent proteins and have heard of many cases where corals(especially sps) in close proximity to eachother the diff strains of zooxanthellae can "infect" as they refer to it on that article but its not very common and cant really be forcefully done or controlled, grafting on the other hand can be. Ive thought about this concept for awhile and has had me wondering if it would be possible to use a really tiny needle to try and extract zoox from one coral and inject in another, sounds cool but also crazy and highly unlikely tho lol idk??
