Picked up this rare red mimic anemone over the weekend. These are by far the oddest anemone I've ever seen. They have tentacle sweeepers that come out at night to feed. I'm thinking it's a plankton feeder rather more then a carnivore feeder however it has one of the most dangerous stings out of all the anemones. I've only heard of a few sold. Pretty cool how they mimic coral. I'd assume this guy is trying to mimic a carnation or some SPS. Here is a link for the reefbreefers article on these unique anemones. Some photos below of my red in my tank.

Thanks guys I'll definitely post more info as I learn myself. I actually know a wholesaler who got this in by accident and actually held it unknowingly about the sting and he didn't get hurt. Maybe the sweepers are the danger? I won't take the risk that's for sure lol. I may get another one, he said he may be able to get me a nice bright blue one with ree streaks going through it resembling an acropora.
