Hey guys,

I have this mini carpet anemone that has been in my tank and sitting in one spot for about two months now. Two days ago I noticed that he moved a few inches, then yesterday when I came home from work he was under a rock.

Today he's still under the rock. It's pretty dark in there too.

The only thing I have done differently is that I replaced an actinic t5 bulb with an ATI purple plus last week.

So, my question is do you think this sounds like normal behavior?

Will he most likely come out before he saves from lack of light?

Or is he more likely sick and retreating into a death den?

Anemones movement means it is not happy about something...but that something can be really hard to nail down.

I have a bubble tip that I thought I created the perfect spot for, measuring light, gauging flow, etc. He stayed there for maybe a day before moving three times in as many days. Then he seemingly vanished for several days before suddenly reappearing in a place he has stayed for months.

My point I guess is not to despair. Keep an eye on it, cover your powerheads, and hope for the best.

The thing is I have 5 nems. None of my others moved. This one was up against the glass, and although I'm always very Careful when cleaning I'm afraid that I may have unknowingly nicked him and am seeing his reaction days later. Although it's unlikely that this happened and I'm speculating, I guess only time will tell then.

Have you ever had a happy nem hide and come back out? All my other nems move to better spots and stay. I've had one hide in the past when I was a beginner and he died in the hole he hid in

I have a dozen rock anemones, and only one moves around. The rest stay put. I don't know why he does it, but he is healthy and looks well. I wouldn't be concerned unless he stays hidden, and starts to shrivel up.
