Tell me about these things...I am wanting to put 2 or 3 on an exposed rock, mid to high in the tank and in a good bit of flow. Would they tolerate the flow and stay where I want them or is there a good chance they will wander around alot? Anything else I should know about these things? I googled them and read up but there's not tons of user experience out there.

I have heard that they will eat fish. Hard to believe till I saw my buddies maxi-mini that is almost as big as a full size plate! There is nothing mini about it and I was there to see them when they were minis. LOL!

I have 6 or so in my tank and they actually haven't moved from where I put them. Some in high light / high flow, some in low light / low flow. I know that doesn't help much, but from what I can tell they're pretty tolerant.

I have 10+ and they love flow and doesnt really matter were you put them they'll move if not happy! I havent had them each any of my fish but i didnt have any gobies or anyhting like that. I had them get big but that just means its time to frag! ;)

I've got several that have not moved more than an inch since they were put in the tanks ..... mine are in a good bit of flow (enough to randomly 'fold' them over a bit) - against edge of a rock on the sandbed so in more of a moderate than high light - but that is where they were initially placed too so I don't know if they would have stayed in place higher in the tank or I just got lucky with them being happy in their original location.

Mine has remained in the exact same spot since day1, over a year now. it went from about 1.5 to 2" across to now being about 4" across. it has never harmed one of my fish to my knowledge, but given the chance and opportunity, i'm sure it would not hesitate to dine of a few.

How do you frag a mini?

I have 3 and they don't mave at all. They get LOTS of flow. One ate a half dead anthias once, but frankly it was just saving me the trouble of having to go in there and remove it myself

I have 6 in my tank. While getting them to attach on the rock I wanted I turned down my flow. Once attached I turned the flow back up and they haven't moved. So far no fish has come into contact with them. However I have 2 sexy shrimp hosting in them and my mystery wrasse seems to leave them alone since they're on the anemone. ;-)

Yea I have 4 they pretty much stay put. Now I did have one that I'm pretty sure ate my blue spotted jawfish. As long as you don't have anything too small I think you will be ok.

My two are in moderate flow and moderate light, lower in my tank. They never moved from where I put them over a year ago. They host sexy shrimp, but will eat your fish so be warned. Honestly though, none of my fish really go near them (even the clowns) so I guess they just know better.

Thanks for all the responses! I'm still on the fence trying them out. I sent a message to a seller that deals with many of them and his response was similar to what others have said....i.e. they don't mind high flow but they prefer low to moderate light so it would likely move down closer to the sand according to him. I also don't like the idea that they may eat a fish or two. I read about this in my google search and it was said that the mini's that stay 2" and under aren't as likely to eat fish as the maxi's. Thanks again for the responses, I think I will wait on trying one of these :(

I have 4 or 5 in a 75, each in moderate to high light areas, each receiving varying amounts of flow from moderate to high. A couple of them do move, back and forth, over a 2"-4" area. With multiples, they also tend to move towards one another. They like 'company.' I have 2 in a 40 breeder, in a plastic container that they don't move out of. The container does limit the flow they get and they get fairly high light.

As for eating fish, I can verify that they DO eat fish, especially fish that are known to eat anemones...lol. I had a Tomeatosus Filefish (Aiptasia eating Filefish) in our 75 that was eaten by one of my Maxi Minis. I'm thinking that the Filefish tried to nibble on the anemone and it back fired...lol.

I have 3 in a 75g and for the most part they never move from where they were initially put. One tried to fight with a bubble tip for his spot but the maxi backed down after a few days. I had a aiptasia eating filefish causing one to go into hiding because it was eating it. Returnofsid must of gotten one that was either smaller or dumber than mine. I do like them but at times regret having them because you do have to give them some space around each one just in case they stretch or move around. No fish have been eaten including psychedelic (spotted) mandarins and tail spot gobies. My chromis bumped into one VERY lightly and was able to swim away. I think he just got very lucky. I'm sure given the chance it'll eat a fish. Mine did eat a pom pom crab though...it took him 2 or 3 tries to get it into his mouth but he managed. I think the crab molted right next to the maxi but all I know for sure is he ate the pom pom. I don't worry about them moving in my tank but I do shy away from smaller fish just in case.
