Mini maxi splitting or just being weird in it’s rock?
Personally it looks bleached to me but it’s been this way for 8 months and hasn’t moved or changed color at all, it eats, and it’s got pink/red in the middle when it’s stretched out and on the foot.

Probably just being weird. Usually bleaching says something wrong with lights or parameters.

  • How long has the tank been setup?
  • What are your parameters?
  • What kind of lights do you have?
  • Lighting schedule?

Splitting is usually due to stress in nems and can you post a pic without the blues on ?

I’ll run my tests tomorrow, lights are about to go out and don’t like having the house lights on after the tanks are out. This tank is around a year... I don’t remember if it was March or feb of last year, this nem and my purple seabae were the first inhabitants of the tank I got in June or July 2018. The mini maxi has always looked bleached, I didn’t know what bleaching was at the time and just thought it looked cool with the green white and pink.

My tank peramiters though are typically as follows.
Temp: 76-78*
pH: 7.8-8.8
Salinity: 1.027
NO3: 0.10
Ca: 320
Alk: 8 DKH
Mg: 900
PO4: 0.05
Ammonia and nitrites: 0

I know it’s not perfect but working with what I got haha.

Lighting is a 160w Chinese black box about 3” from water surface and the white/green/red Chanel set at 25% while blue/UV Chanel is set at 65%

Turns on at 9:30am and turns off at 8:15pm

Hope the info helps.

Not bad parameters

Looks like I can definitely see a spot of pink on each one so it may have split.

So you did purchase it as one maxi...

Yeah it was about the size of a Gatorade cap or soda can top. I got it because it was only $5 and honestly couldn’t say no to that, nems are so cool.

After acclimation back in July/June it found its little hole and stayed there.
But hard to tell if it’s split or just in the rock all wonky like.

Guess I’ll just watch for the next day or so and see.

Chances are the way it looks you now have two.

Here are some photos of mine that I had. The ones on the clam shell is one that I had fragged.

Yeah. Those were my 2 gems:(
Oh no! I don’t like the sounds of that emoji.

However it turns out part of the maxi was sticking through a hole in the rock. That kinda bummed me out.

Since you’ve had a lot more of these than me haha. Are they always pretty slow with their lil tentacles? Or does it dipend on the type?

Yeah.. I had a heater malfunction and cleaned out my tank. This was about 1.5 years ago now.

So it is just one anemone. Was hoping you had a second.

All the maxis that I had were chill. Every now and them I'd get one that would find it's way up the glass by the water surface and move around a bit. But for the most part no issues

Nice colors.

I have a 10 gallon I might do as a rock flower nem tank. They are so colorful.

Yeah I have all sorts of tanks sitting around in my garage, The reptile rescue always gives me aquariums that he can’t use, so I’ve got sizes from
.5-45 gal. Just don’t know what to do with them haha.
