I like the cantilever style even if it's not minimalistic. Did something similar with this museum instal.

Just a few flat pieces of Liverock :)

@Leonardo_, your Apogon Reef tank was the inspiration that got me started, my own picture or definition of "minimalistic". Love the negative space, just don't have the discipline for it myself.

This is a good example of minimalist tank lots of open space both water and sand with very little live rock. While most pics in this thread show some nice tanks most are not minimalist.
Totally agree with this statement. Just because a tank isn't filled to the brim with live rock, it doesn't qualify it for minimalistic.

Also when I think of the the term minimalistic, to me it represents a certain style. Usually modern, unique, artsy. Something very minimal but well thought out. Filling a space when we look at it but physically not filling the space at all. Just dropping one rock in the middle of the tank would not be considered a minimalistic look to me just because there isn't a lot there. It is much more then that I think.

+1
Personally, I have a hard time calling any tank with sand "minimalistic". So much subjectivity in the term.

I love the little sprinkle of sand on the bottom. It kind of completes the whole look. Although I do not know how it would stay perfect looking like that unless it was glued down some how.
