Finally remembered to come see your tank! I think I will be picking up an aquaclear again to have some filtration since I have an anemone now. What would you recommend? Ac30? What has worked best for you?

How do you like your Milwaukee digital refractometer? Is it worth the money? Is it easy to use? I'm sick of what I'm using: two swing-arm hydrometer that was never meant to be accurate, a glass hydrometer I'm afraid will break, and a see-through refractometer I can't use either (impossible if you wear glasses.) With the money I spent on those I could have bought a digital.

I'm still using the AC30 and love it! I soak it in vinegar and clean it every 2 weeks. I'm feeding 3-4 times a day and keeps my PO4 at 0.02 and nitrate around 5.

It's so easy to use and extremely accurate! Get one, it's one of my favorite equipment! :)

Interestingly, some of the longest running nano tanks are very simple and 'filterless' (as in no mechanical filtration).

This is a really nice BB nano tank! :)

Thank you!! It's still skimmerless and sumpless :)
I actually started manually dosing Acropower 1ml/day 2 weeks ago and tank is still 0.02 PO4 and nitrate around 5.

Thank you!! It's still skimmerless and sumpless :)
I actually started manually dosing Acropower 1ml/day 2 weeks ago and tank is still 0.02 PO4 and nitrate around 5.

I've been running a 12g this way for nearly 8 years and before that a 55g for nearly 10 years. The 12g always has less than 0.5 NO3 and 'undetectable' levels of PO4 (Salifert). Stability and thorough/consistant maintenance routine...

I've used Acropower at about 1/4 strength for about 6 months now. Based on past experience, I'd recommend starting with a lower than manufacturer recommended dose and see how the tank reacts over a month or two. Based on past experience, I found that it can easily stimulate algae growth, especially when a salt mix with vitamins/added organics like Reff Crystals is used for water changes.

Converted the tank into a frag tank since we are getting ready to move into our home! New tank will be 90% SPS! =D
