Minimax media reactor into fuge?

Has anyone turned their minimax media reactor into a refugium reactor? I currently have a IM 30L and I’m running a UV sterilizer and media basket (filter floss and ceramic spheres) on both first chambers. In the second chambers I’m running my minimax reactor with carbon currently and the other chamber has the Nuvoskim. I don’t want to run GFO for removing Nitrates and Phosphates, but I do have a heavy hand for feeding. I thought maybe turning my minimax reactor into a fuge and then just throwing a bag of carbon in my media basket might help keep parameters in check and reduce unwanted algae growth.

If you don’t have a nutrient issue I don’t see a point. It won’t be a safe harbor for pods like a traditional fuge.
