I've been considering turning my 25 gal waterbox peninsula tank into an anemone only tank for my husband's clownfish. (They are large and mean and attack anything else in their space.....hands, tools, other fish...)

I was scrolling through online looking for aquascape ideas specific for BTAs and came across several pages that suggest a minimum of 100 gallon tank for a single BTA.

Am I missing something? I feel like I've seen a lot of much smaller tanks with anemones in them.

How old is the tank ?

How stable can you keep the parameters ? (Alk , temp, salinity)

I know that you can put them in 5G tanks, but keeping them alive is usually recommended in 50g+ as parameter swings are hard to manage and avoid in small tanks

This particular tank is about a year and a half, currently has mostly softys and some stubborn SPS that keeps growing no matter what. The tank used to be almost completely SPS before I moved most of it into my upgraded 4 foot tank I bought back in March. I've had a lot of experience keeping nano tanks stable for high demand corals, but this would be my first bubble tip

As long as the conditions are kept stable, there's no real "minimum tank size" for a BTA. They can grow quickly, multiply and obviously move when they feel like it, but as long as your okay with the possibility of some of the existing corals getting stung or having to re-arrange to accommodate the nem, you should be fine.

I can testify
+1

2 swiftly become 4 & they ALWAYS go where you want them to

I have an Innovative Marine Nuvo 10 setup with BTAs and a pair of clownfish (check my build thread). I started with 4 BTAs over a year ago, and I'm up to 8 now. I also have 2 RFAs in there.

I run heavy carbon and do weekly 2g water changes. Everything is healthy and happy.
