Hey all,

I am curious as to how many of you have tried "Miracle Mud". I have seen a lot of positive reviews from their website, and all the testing and documentation look promising...but I want reviews from outside their company. There are a lot of people that say "Ohhh it's a bunch of crap"...but I am only interested in hearing from people who have actually used it.

I've never used but have heard good things and have a couple friends trying mud now in new systems.

From what I understand its like having benefits of DSB but in a much more compact form due to the particle size of the mud.

Also supposed to be able to grow mangroves/macros/pods like crazy using that as substrate in refugium.

Please let me know how their systems do. I decided to purchase the mud and go for it. I recently just tore down my entire 65 gallon system and I am starting over from scratch. I had Ich, and bacteria infections, Aiptasia, some type of bad large pink bristle worm...that was not being nice... and out of control cotton like things....along with completely out of control Cyno, string, and other algae's. Anyway, a a local aquarium store has my corals and fish in a quarantine tank for me until I am ready to take them back, so....I filled my tank with tap water, put a heater in the tank cranked it up to 90 degrees. In 2 weeks I will be starting anew with the "Miracle Mud". I will post pics and keep everyone updated as I go along.

Everything I was ever told or read said... It works great in the beginning but has reverse Ill effects over time... Haven't tried it myself so I can't confirm... But that's what I got from research...

Yes, you are supposed to refresh the mud every year or two. All it is is a deep sand bed made of mud so it will have the same pitfalls and benefits as DSB.

Ive been useing it for about a year now and getting great results. My corals are colored up nice i dont dose trace elements, the mud is suppost to release them slowly. So far so good. It says to change half the mud once a year which im about to do. Go on youtube and check out the owner he has a channel where he is doing testing with 3 different types of aquariums where one of them has the mud in it. The tank with his mud looks the best. His name on youtube is Lengksy. Goodluck

Ive been using it for about a year now. I cant really say anything bad about it i guess its working you cant really tell, I have great colors and nice growth.

If you do decide to use it I would recommed putting it in a removable container so it easy to pull in and out of your sump unless you have a wet dry vac to vacume it out later to refresh it.

Have you had slime algae problems? Or string algae problems? Do you have to do water changes every week? If your answer is no to these questions, then I think you have more benefits than you realize. :) I have had every bad possible effect that a reef person can have and I have all the expensive equipment...that is why I want to try this miracle mud...just to see if I have less problems. Wish me luck! lol

Excellent suggestion....thank you. I really don't know if this will work...but trust me...I have what's called the Black Thumb...so if it works for me ... then I will be very pushy at getting everyone to do it...lol ;)
