Missing anglefish

Hi,

Longtime lurker here!

I noticed tonight my flameback angel is missing!
I have a FOWLR with red legged hermits, banded trochus snails, a cleaner shrimp, 2 common clowns, 7 green chromis, a blue cheek goby, an orchid dottyback, a royal gramma and a 6 line wrasse.
I don’t think it jumped, have checked thoroughly and I have a lid.
Its a very peaceful tank with no aggression between the fish and they are fed well.
The gramma appears to have moved into the angels spot in the rock as well…….

Strong possibility with that clean-up crew: 1) Died. 2) Eaten.

Ah man, I’m gutted! It was absolutely fine a day ago as well…..

Too bad bud, absolutely hate when that happens - but it does happen, just hope not too often

just out of curiosity did you check your weir, ive had a fish jump in there once while cleaning the tank and the lid was off

Yeah I did check for surfing, I do have a cat though……

If it jumped I think it had a timely demise.. I’m very sorry for your loss but I would maybe check the rockscape and overflow again just in case.

Have you heard of DEAD ZONES? There can be pockets in the tank ( and on the planet) where a fish can get into, there is no flow, and no oxygen. A gas is built up and they die very fast and actually are totally consumed quickly even the bones. ( HYPOXIA) I have lost 4 new small fish in 2 days. I was baffled because my nitrates and phosphates tested good, also ammonia. BUT I have a m light I bought to check my carpet to make sure of no dog urine ( bad house sitter) after cleaning . I now have " old tank syndrome" I only had corals and one sea hare for the past year and obviously have a problem. I have to remove the rocks and fish, then clean the bed. Look for a dead zone., area of no flow. I learned when I lost 4 new fish in 2 days, broke my heart. Fish can get under and into a tight pocket under and get hypoxia, quickly die and disintegrate.
