Missing Fish!!! so confused

I got 2 peacock gobys about a week ago and after 2 days one of them disappeared I just assumed he was hiding in the rockwork as there was no sign of him on the ground around the tank.

The other one of the pair disappeared yesterday. I have tried to look through my rock work and mu rubble zone as best I can and have no sign of them.

Do you guys recon theyll be hidden somewhere still? I have looked all around the tank on the ground and under the stand.

I am assuming there is no magic pixies steal fish in the night leaving no sign.

Check your overflow and sump, they are awesome jumpers. I had one jump and I found him a week later on a ledge in my canopy.

Could go either way. I’ve had fish disappear without a trace, which means the probably died in the rock work and fed the cuc. I’ve also had fish disappear for several months before popping back up as if nothing had happened. The bigger the tank the more likely they are just hiding out somewhere.

I'm with you on this one. It is too early to tell what happened to it. You would be amazed how fast a well established tank can make a dead fish completely disappear, but it's too early to write it off yet.

When a fish that had been out and swimming goes missing it usually means it has died. Not always, but usually. Probably no Cornish pixies, agreed, but as others have noted, a fish corpse gets reduced amazingly quickly.

I lost a yellow watchman goby for several months. Looked everywhere and finally decided he was gone. Picked up another YWG and a pistol shrimp and after QT added them to the display. That same day the original goby appeared. Now they all live together in a cave.
