Hi all,

Just did my weekly water change and noticed my Naso Tang is GONE. Nowhere to be found. Doesn’t seem that he jumped. I guess I’m wondering if these guys will burrow in the sand or something? I can not find him anywhere.

How big was the tang? Possibly hiding or tucked under a rock. Worse case scenario it passed away and your clean up crew made quick work of it.

He was about 4 inches. I’m pretty sure the crew hasn’t seen any action recently. It’s been about 4 hours since I’ve seen him but if he will tuck under a rock I have a few places he could be. How long could he possibly hide if that’s the case?

Many factors, depends on how hungry he gets and what his access to food is in the spot he is in if he is indeed hiding. It's not common, but did you check the sump?

We don’t have a sump so not there. I don’t think he jumped. I just have no clue

I'd give it a day or two. After that I'd start tearing apart rockwork to see if you can find him.

Also, you can try tempting with food. If you feed frozen, get a turkey baster and use it to drop food in various places around the rock work to temp him to pop out.

Just to be safe in case it did die, check for ammonia or any other changes specially if your tank is not huge.
