I baught a blue spoted goby and he has Ben in my tank for almost a week and I have yet to see him he disappeared into my rock work and I know they hide at first but I was wondering if it was normal not to see them for this long

hmmm, whats his condition when you last saw him? any aggressive fish in your tank? is the tank covered? How big is your CUC and did you start to check for ammonia spike?

When I saw him under the rock he looked ok he was moving and digging and my ammonia is fine and none of my fish are aggressive my tank is mostley covered but I looked on the floor because I know they jump but nothing and I'm not Shute what CUC is

CUC = clean up crew, a strong CUC can devour a dead fish in less than a day....

I I knew that lol and my clean up crew is small a couple of snails and peppermint shrimp that's it

Have you checked your overflow?

+1 for overflow. have found numerous Gobies in the overflow.

I have 2 Gobies that I see only once ever 2-3 months. I've "replaced" both thinking they were dead, only to have them show up one day for a fleeting moment.

Sometimes, they will dig their den opening towards the back of the tank (where we can't see them). Just because we set the tank up for our viewing, our fish don't always cooperate. lol

I did notice a new hole in the back where I can't see into it so he could be in there I just haven't seen him come out to eat or anything so I was worried about it

I have one , blue spot, that is very shy. When I first introduced him to the tank it was just after lights out and he dropped to the sandbed directly on top of my tube anenome. He went and hid in the back corner under some rocks and I didn't see him for weeks. Since then he has moved to the other end of the tank and is slowly becoming less shy. He comes out now at feeding time and I can see him in his corner. Still shy but getting better. It has been about 3 months. Don't fret.

Ok I just don't want him to die and not know about it lol I really like him he's cool looking and I don't need a rotting fish in my tank lol

Gobies like to jump but are very shy. Ive had a yellow watchman for about 4 years already and have gone at times at least two weeks without seeing him. Dude is always fine. Probably hanging out in his lair. If you are seeing new entrances to his hole then is probably a sure bet he is fine.

ive lost 3 gobys... have no idea where they go.. never on the floor, never in the tank.. i just keep adding more.. i love them...

They are unbelivable engineers and are always moving sand, when you rock structure starts to colapse you will find him. only kidding but it has happened to a friend of mine. They are cool to watch.
