Dead on panic! I didn't see my Midas Blenny out last night when I went to bed. Today after work, still no blenny! I rifled the whole system, each possible place like three times. Convinced he had jumped and been gobbled up by our yorkie, and fully prepared to inspect the yorkies poo for as long as it took to know, I finally found it. It's head is sticking out the smallest of holes, and he seems to be grey, not his usual golden self. This seems very odd to me. Something has to be up. He is the biggest eater of all my fish, yet has been MIA for over 24hrs now. I can see his gills moving, so I know it's alive, for now. It's my favorite fish, bar none. Anyone have any ideas what may be going on?

i just lost mine this week and have no idea why. found him dead in the tank. :(

Still alive, but this cannot be going anywhere good. Still tucked away in the same hole, barely visible. I cannot imagine what may be going on. There's been no swings in params, no new additions, no change I can identify. I did add the ATO, but can't imagine that would be a negative in any aspect. Stumped. I hope this is some kind of normal behavior. Would a single Midas brood? Could it have gotten hurt? Stung or poisoned perhaps? Ugh!

Have you added him recently?
Might be he just needs to acclimate to your tank. Nothing you can do but wait and see what happens. They do like to hide until they feel comfortable in new surroundings.

I added him on 05/16. He spent the first two days hidden away, then came out and took over the place. Until a couple days ago he was **** of the walk. Followed me around the tank waiting to eat, interacting with all the other fish. I've never observed any aggression by him or towards him. Then, night before last, poof - he disappears. Tonight, at feeding time I did see his whole body, nestled tightly into a crevasse on the back side of my tank that I can only see by shining a flashlight on to the back glass and lighting up the back of a rock with the reflection. He was very dark, noticeable barred, no damage or wounds I could discern. Just so curios now, even wondering how one detects if there's any electrical currents in the tank. Maybe my Aqualifter is shorted, or the ATO float switch is introducing some current. Can one measure stray current with a meter? I've never been a believer in ground probes, but....

Paranoia.

Just some closure on this thread, it's gone. Took him out today. Sad, but kind of relieved I don't have to wonder about it anymore. Have no idea what happened. Going to chill on adding fish for a while.
