Missing shrimp... how long??!??!

I set my tank up April 2016... in June, along with the clowns and the regal tang, I bought a blood shrimp (Lysmata debelius). For a week or so all was good, then my shrimp died... I had no idea what happened... I found a moult which I assumed was actually the remains as I could not see the shrimp anywhere. I didn't replace it.

Tonight I was in the kitchen well after lights out and was having a peer into the tank, seeing what critters were about when I noticed the shrimp!! 13 months he's been in there... I've rescaped twice, poked about god knows how many times and watched the tank for hours in that time... how have I only seen him now?!?!? Where the heck has he been??

Has anyone gone longer without seeing livestock?

13 months is crazy! I've gone 5 months but I can't imagine over a year. Especially since you rescaped and everything!

Blood shrimps are beautiful but hide 99 percent of the time especially in tank where they are getting enough food or bigger tanks
I see mine maybe once every 6 months and that's only because I know it's favorite spot. They will tend to hang out around the sane area

I've spent many months not seeing my emerald crab. then suddenly he's front and center Same with my serpent star

Money snail. Only see it every couple of months if I'm up at 2 in the morning.
