Hi friends

So something weird happened. My fire red shrimp went missing today. I'm 100% Sure he is not hiding or something. When a shrimp die, will it cause ammonia spike? Or should I be concerned? Mine is a 15g small tank..

Yes, a dead shrimp will cause a spike - that's why cocktail shrimp are sometimes used to start a cycle on a new tank.

15g is a pretty small volume, so I'd expect to see at least some spike if a large fire shrimp were decomposing in the tank. Probably worth looking for its remains. At the very least, if you're sure it's dead, water changes and testing are in order.

its almost 24hours now. its not hidden.. already checked my rocks etc. i guess already decomposed. checked ammonia level it's still 0.. do you know roughly how long does it take to increase the ammonia level? immediate or will take some time?
