Mistakes to avoid during winter

Welcome to the Reef. I live in Maine so that means lots of power outages in winter due to snow/ice storms. I have a backup generator and I have battery backups for powerhead. Also I usually use two heaters in the winter to keep temp consistent and have a backup. I've bought and received fish and corals in the winter. The biggest thing is buying from a reputable place. If you want to ship your own, heat packs are a must.

For shipping: cardboard box with insulted foam box inside. must place heat pack inside foam box

This is the Meet & Greet forum made to introduce yourself. When asking questions, it would be best to place thread in correct forum. Again welcome to R2R

Welcome to R2R! Evaporation increases in the winter and ambient temp can decrease. Watch your reservoir levels and make sure your heaters are working properly and ideally on a controller.

Prepare for storms which bring outages and temperature drops
