So the frag tank is up and running and will be a zoa/paly dominated tank. I am excited to see all the beautiful colors.

My 40 g breeder is going to become a mixed reef tank. I have never really had any SPS or LPS but I am ready for the challenge. I am going to start this tank from scratch. Do I need dosing pumps for such a small tank? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Initally, no you do not need dosing pumps and should not need them for a long while unless you stock the tank with larger colonies and clams. Using a quality salt mix and doing routine water changes should be fine. You're not going to know the demands of your tank until it's been established for some time. If you have money to burn sure why not, but money better spent as this time though would be for ATO, quality test kits and or probes, lighting.... list goes on and on.
