Hey there , recently started a small tank and used instant ocean salt mix to start up with because it was convienent and easy for me to get at local store at that moment. Now I plan to do a water change to bring down nitrates , but is it safe to now use Red Sea coral pro salt mix ? Just a thought and don't want to mess anything up.

It should be OK, especially if you do it slowly

Maybe I'll do 4 - 25% water changes . Like one a day. Is it okay to premix saltwater . Make 20 gallons and keep it in 5 gallon jugs, instead of mixing every day.

Is there a reason you are changing salts? Personally, I love IO:RC

Absolutely no reason at all! Only because I bought small 25 gallon box of instant ocean to start and usually used to get Red Sea at LFS. But if instant ocean works just as well and is same price I don't mind using it .

Yea, to be honest unless there is a strong reason for you to change, I would just stick with the IO. Especially if your tank is doing well, no reason to fix whats not broken!

Doing water changes is an immediate bandaid that isn't necessary in your case imo. Figure out the source of the nitrates and work from there. Long term your water change is a waste of time and money.

unless of course the rock/tank is brand spanking new then sure do the WC
