So I’m currently using red sea coral pro, which mixes to an alk of 11-12dkh. I’ve been maintaining my tank at around 8.5dkh, and would like to avoid the alk swings after water changes.
I still have 2 buckets of rscp, could i do a custom blend of rscp and regular instant ocean to bring parameters down?
My nutrients are pretty low, so I’m worried about raising alk (have to dose Po4/No3).
Or should I not even worry about the alk swing doing 10% water changes?

I dont see why not. Ive done it before

I wouldn't worry about it, personally. If your tank is at 8 dKH, a 10% water change with 11 dKH water will only raise the alk to 8.3, which I wouldn't consider an "alkalinity spike".

ok good to hear, thanks! I’m looking at switching salts once I use up the rscp. Something like fritz RPM seems to be more consistent with the parameters I want.
