Mixing KH/CA/MG Plus

You can combine
Calcium chloride (AF Cal Plus) and Magnesium chloride (AF Mag Plus)
But, you can't add alk to the mix.

The three-part with alk "in one" mixture would cause precipitation in a dosing container.

Meaning their separate ions would bind together.

I'd just dose all three separately because your reef's intake of cal and mag would most likely be at a different.

You can go a long span without needing to dose magnesium.

Wait at least 15 minutes between dosing alk..., cal..., and mag to reduce the chance of precipitation as well.

Thanks, very clear.

Let me ask a last question. When using Balling (I use Component 123+ by AF), is it best to dose the three solutions simultaneously, since they have to react one with the other, or at different times, to avoid precipitation?

So far I dosed 1ml/2 min of each solution simultaneously and I did not notice any precipitation.

thanks,
Leonardo

Hey, Leonardo

Even though you're dosing a small number of mls, it would be best to spread out each one by 10 to 15 minutes between dosing 1 part to another part.
