Randy, I am planning on automating my Nitrate and Phosphate dosing. I was wondering if I could use just one dosing pump to do this? I was thinking I'd mix my solutions of Sodium Nitrate and Sodium Phosphate separately, then combine them in the appropriate ratios and dose from just one pump each day.
For instance, right now my tank is consuming about 200 mL of Sodium Nitrate and 4 mL of Sodium Phosphate daily. So I figured if I filled the dosing container with a ratio of 1,000 mL of NO3 and 20 mL of PO4, that it would be delivered in the appropriate ratio for dosing and I could set the pump to deliver 200 mL per day? Does this sound correct? Are there any reasons not to mix the two solutions together, chemically speaking?
I already have a single dosing pump (brand new) left over from my old system that I could use. That's why I was hoping to get away with this. If not, I'll have to get a different pump set up (probably the neptune DOS).
Thx!!
