Anyone got experience mixing Perculas and Ocellaris? I'm replacing a Platinum that jumped and thinking of trying to mix the two by getting Platinum and Snowflakes.

I'm sure it will work as long as one is smaller then another

Depends on the character of the clown. Some get along and some don't. Just depends.

If you get a yes or no answer, it won't be 100% true.

Now if someone sold clowns that hosted anemones my day would be made

Ive purchased clowns before that hosted anemone's and flower pots before for months. When I brought the flower pot and clown home, no dice.

I have a snowflake and did have a Picasso that were purchased out of a FOWLR. They hosted my anemone within a few weeks. Just depends...again.

I have 2 ltas and a rose that they don't want anything to do with

Not the best picture, but my mixed pair have been together for about 2 years now. Haven't seen the actual eggs, but it sure seems like they have been spawning by their behavior.

FYI --- The anemone hosts the clowns.

Thanks all. I ordered Picasso's and a Platinum so I'm just keeping it Perc.

Where did you order from

Picasso and Snowflake

How about a Picasso Perc and a Snowflake Ocelaris. I decided to start a saltwater tank 8 months ago and these are the two fish my wife picked out. Was defiantly worried of doing something wrong as she picked one of the most expensive clowns to start with.

Side note can anyone tell my why my pictures keep getting turned sideways when i upload them?

A perc is a perc and a osc is an osc no matter the colors so these answers should all apply. I know it's trial and error but wanted to hear other's experiences so if you've had them in there together for awhile you're probably ok.

I think my biggest concern was if the oscellaris would mess with my remaining Platinum. I've had that guy since he was a tiny baby and didn't want him bullied. He's been searching all over for his lady since she jumped. I once had 4 ocellaris living peacefully in there together until an infected fish wiped out them and just about everything else last year. So I'm gonna try it again with 2 Picasso's and 1 Platinum on the way this Saturday. I have two qt's that I've had up running for months just in case I have to pull someone out.

Here's a pic of my two Platinum before she jumped.

Mixing perc w/ occs is generally no big deal, even if you keep occs w occs or just percs the female can still reject the new male just as easy.
Not only does one have to be smaller than the other, but the new guy should be as small as possible to assure male, an inch and a quarter is about where I would draw the line, so that or smaller would be preferred.
Regardless of what you choose to pair up, the safest way to intro a new male to a female is in a floating breeder box or specimen container, they are cheap, like $5.
Best is to float the new male next to where the female resides, at least a day, maybe 2-3 days, observe female, see if she appears to be attacking or agitated, or hopefully just looking curious.
As for clowns accepting a nem for host, best results are when you choose a natural nem and clown match as to what they would take host from in the wild.
This is where I see a great many mistakes made, people buy a clown, then they just but any nem they score a deal or looks pretty.
Sometimes you get lucky and get a clown that accepts an unnatural host nem, sometimes you don't.
