Mixing pukani and reef saver rock

Starting a 180G and I am thinking about mixing Pukani and reef saver rock. I will also have about 33%L.R. so about equal amounts of each. Will there be issues with mixing pukani and reef saver as far as the way they look (different colors or structurally different)? This is for a peninsula mixed reef tank and fish. Any other issues as far as curing the two together or cycling? Should I just stick to one or the other?

I have a mix of Pukani, Fiji, Tonga and Reef Saver in my system. Pukani has been known to leach P04 and reef saver is already cured but dead rock so you will have to seed from LR from another system or LFS.

I personally love the Fiji LR but you aren't able to buy that anymore as it is banned. Pukani is nice also and super porous which is a good thing. TBH I am not a fan really of the reef saver (or other man-made LR), but its simply because I find the rock work to be somewhat generic (this is just my personal aesthetic preference), but there is nothing wrong with mixing and matching.

Unless you have some stored away you won't be finding any Pukani for sale right now. It was affected by the ban as well. If you are able to get some, the mix wouldn't look bad. A lot of people use the reef saver as "base" rock and fill it out with Pukani or Fiji.

You can mix anytype of rock if you do it right. Here in this picture I have reef saver and pukani. I've since added tonga, shapes, and some fiji. I would use the reef saver as a base and glue overhangs with the pukani. I also like to use expoxy on the reef saver to cover as many of the holes facing the light, this also prevents pest such as aiptasia from finding a footing near by the corals
