Mixing Recipes?

I have been using the sodium hydroxide recipe for my alk, but I find my Ph is getting too high (8.7). I am going to switch to the sodium carbonate recipe, but do I need to throw out the unused sodium hydoxide solution first or is it safe to mix the two?
