has anyone completed their scape using 2 different types of reef rock (pukani/fiji)? Previous dicussion which i agree to keep like rock together but wondering having different seperate formations/ reefs in tank look odd? Want to do three islands so would assume center island different texture may be best choice. I have a large pukani rock (25 lb) that i wanted to use otherwise would of stayed with all same. Have a tank full of just fiji but doing a larger new system

A lot of reefers have used different types of rocks for their scape. It's not uncommon to go and find "base rock" at a LFS which is better for the bottom of an aquascape since it is usually denser and more stable. You would then put more porous rocks on top of the base rock and build your scape out from there :)

Pukani and Fiji rock would make a very interesting aquascape, be sure to share pictures on your build thread!

Once things are covered in Coraline and algae its not as obvious. Also once corals start growing it really not noticeable. I feel like it give the reef more texture. I have pukani, fiji, Tonga shelf and branch. I personally like shelf rock at the top for SPS corals. Pukani to stuff the stems of euphyllia in and to make caves. My Fiji rock is porous but smooth exterior which is great for those encrusting corals and zoas. You just need to blend it in together.

I just ordered 20lbs of caribsea life rock and 40lbs of dry pukani to get started. We shall sea.
