I was planning on starting the cycle on my new tank tomorrow. Can I add the RO water into the tank and add the salt directly to the tank? If so, is there anything I need to know? Can I just add the salt directly to the tank?

I would advise to pre mix it prior to adding water to tank.

It becomes kinda difficult to mix it in the tank since you need a LOT of flow to keep it all stirring.

You could mix the salt that way since you have no live stock right now, but it's better to get into the habit of mixing salt in 5 gallon buckets or a large trashcan, then siphon it to smaller buckets/jugs to do your water changes when you have livestock.
So you technically could do it that way, but it's better not to, plus it easier to test for salinity when you premix since you don't have to wait for it to dissolve and settle. You should IMO make water then wait at least a few hours(most say 24 hours) to let everything dissolve and mix properly. A powerhead will speed(hence why i say a few hours) this up if you use a trashcan in the future.

It's fine in the beginning and it's what I did. You'll get pockets of undissolved salt at the bottom and in your live rock but as long as there's no life in your tank yet it'll dissolve in a few days or so.
