So they say. Not sure of the rationale behind it though.
The rationale is to reduce the time where salt is present in excess, either locally on the bottom or overall. It’s hard to avoid entirely, but mixing in fast to lots of water limits the likelihood of hypersalinity at the bottom which will encourage irreversible precipitation of calcium carbonate.
