Hi I finally got my RO/DI and im gonna start mixing my own salt. Can anyone give me sone advice on how to mix, how long it mix and when can i use after mixing. Im gonn go with Res Sea Coral Pro Salt.

I mix mine in a 55 gallon drum with an external pump and heaters set to 79 degrees (or around your tank temp). I usually dump in RODI from another drum and let circulate and heat up for an hour or when I remember it again. Then I slowly add salt to this water checking salt levels regularly. Once at levels I want if need be I dose Calcium, Alkalinity and Magnesium to my tank levels if needed and let circulate for a few hours and then do a water change. I use instant ocean salt so I have to dose it for Calcium and Mag usually but don't know what the levels you keep your tank at and what RS coral pro salt mixes to but this is how I go about it. I have a friend who uses this salt though and have seen him use it not long after its mixed with no problems.

I do 5g water changes so I just use a 5g Home Depot bucket. Filling to about 3" from the top it takes two cups of salt. I use the red sea pro also. Put a small power head and a heater in and dump the salt in. I usually mix it the day before. If I forget to mix the day before I let it sit for at least an hour so the water temp gets to the right point.

Just add salt when your ready to do the water change. Use a large enough barrel to accomodate all the water your going to need that change. Add whats needed to match SG, Temp and other elements. I use a powerhead to mix up my water, and only mix it up for a couple hours before using it.

I use a power head in a 5 gallon bucket. I usually mix a day ahead and the pump well heat up the water sufficiently to do the water charge. If you have a large quantity to mix I do suggest getting large Brute/Rubbermaid containers for that; look for the NFS rating. Check your salt though it might have a specific amount of time you should wait before using it.

I mix in a 32 gallon barrel. I turn on a powerhead and slowly add the salt. I add in a heater and by morning it is ready to go. If I'm mixing it the same day, I usually let it mix for about 4 hours.

I start filling my 32 gal. drum as soon as I finish my wc. you never know when an emergency will pop up. after the salt mixes and heats up for a day I turn pump and heater off until the day before my next wc.

Can use the mixes salt right after it fully mixes or is it required to wait 24h

I'd give it at least a couple of hours to insure it's fully disolved.
