Hi everyone,

I generally do a 50L water change (10%) every week. It takes several hours to fill the drum with RODI and then another several hours to mix the salt in the drum.

My question is, can start adding and mixing salt and the 25L mark and then just let it fill up to 50L while mixing at the same time? Or do I need to wait until it reaches 50L before mixing? I plan on putting in the full amount of salt I need at the 25L mark and then but the time it reaches 50L the mixing should be done.

It would save me a couple of hours of filling/mixing if I could do it simultaneously.

Yes provided you don’t add to much salt as already said, as the water would become saturated, just add half and then top up

You don’t normally need to mix for hours depending on the salt, I usually find 30 minutes is fine

is the temperature that important before mixing the salt? I normally just do at room temperature. I figure that as I'm only doing a 10% change the temp. wouldn't been too affected with the change...
