It’s four days too long to let salt water mix? I’m just curious to what everybody does. I usually wait two days but I usually have to dose pH, so I figured I would try four days but not too sure if there’s like a X amount of time that’s like overkill.

It really depends on the salt. I use Red Sea, and they do not recommend mixing for longer than 2 hours. What I noticed with some of them is that slime starts to form on the buckets after a day or two. I tend to dose the tank for ph, not the change water. Maybe others do it differently.

I use instant ocean

I mix up 40 gallons at a time and it takes me a month to use it all. Instant ocean.

4 days is not needed to mix salt, most mix in 24 hours, some a little less some a little more, once mixed you can store it for a good few weeks/months.

Not sure what you mean by you need to increase the ph of the salt you are mixing?

I use Reef Crystals, make RODI, start adding salt at half full mark, start shaking and mixing at that point, let it fill up, shake and mix some more, add an aerator/fish bubbler ...let sit for an hour, and it's good to go.

All comes down to the salt you are using. I use AF Reef Salt, its mixes within 15 minutes and is completely clear and ready to use. My mix tank holds about a weeks worth of water changes (daily AWC about 2.5 gallons pre day).
