I was hoping to see some pics from those of you who have mixed sand before, specifically special grade and oolite. I currently use the seaflor special grade, and feel like it's a little too course for me. After seeing the oolite in person I am really loving how fine it is, but don't want it to move all over and I think I would prefer a small amount of texture as well. I know the fine sand tends to settle at the bottom over time and you only see the course, but I do not do DSB and only put enough it there to be aesthetically pleasing. Would this still be an issue? Or if I did say 75% oolite and 25% special would I still have the same problem? Anyone who has done this could you please share your likes and dislikes about doing so?

you will hate the oolite. its a dust storm. go the other way on your percentage and you may have luck. ime of course;)

Following. I have Oolite now and was thinking of adding some courser sand. It's so lite that I remove some each time I siphon the sand during cleaning so I was thinking of replacing it with something a little coarser. Storms aren't a problem in my tank, I do get a puff a sand when my Melanurus goes to bed.

I was thinking if I had too much of the coarser sand that the oolite would end up all underneath it with time, if that's the case it seems silly to add the oolite at all lol. I am wondering if there is a sand with a grain size between the two? I believe the special grade is a mix of 1-2mm, I would like something in the 1mm range if possible. I guess I could stop being lazy and look at sand myself lol. My surgery is in the morning so I am too freaked out to get any sleep anyway, so I might as well spend the time researching:)

Hey get well soon ok?
Thank you:) Also I forgot that fiji pink was a thing lol. I think size wise that may be closer to what I am looking for, but I don't know how i feel about the little flecks of pink mixed in. Can I just have some fiji white please haha;)
