I recently added a peppermint shrimp to my 29 BioCube (11 months old) which already has a cleaner shrimp since Nov. 2012. Day before yesterday I skipped on feeding my tank and when I got home from work yesterday I noticed my nassarius snails were on the prowl... At first I thought one of my herbivore snails had a death sentence so I sat back and watched the "zombie snails" search out their meal. I was wondering which snail would it be... It felt like a bad game of "duck, duck, goose" but then the nassarius snails disappeared behind the rocks so I grabbed my trusty flashlight and took a peek. At that point I spotted my cleaner shrimp and a couple of hermit crabs feasting on my peppermint shrimp with the nassarius snails otw. I thought now would be a good time to read up on this issue and there is some evidence of cleaners attacking peppermints when hungry so does that suggest that by me skipping one day of feeding caused my cleaner to get desperate and eat the new shrimp on the block? What are some of your thoughts?
k. ... At first I.
