Ok, probably a stupid question but...

How do you handle water temperature with mixing stations in garage?

I live in Florida and my garage is like an oven most of year. I see all these folks setting up auto water changes, not sure how?

Plus I'm trying a new salt Redsea coral pro and even their instructions are quite clear about mixing at an ambient temperature of 68 deg due to precipitation.

Thanks in advance!

Good question! I'd like to hear what folks do...I have my mixing stations in the laundry room and in a closet behind my tank. I live in AZ so I use my garage to dry out QT tanks, filter socks after cleaning....its almost like an autoclave.

Mine is in my garage but that is climate controlled as well. My furnace is in the garage so I have vents in the garage too.

As for RS coral pro... make sure that its somewhat close to your own parameters. It mixes very high in alk and Ca and if you keep your tank around 8 where I would bet most reefers do, you'll cause undue parameter swings doing water changes with that stuff. Just a caution.

That is a hard one, that is why I mix inside. I do have an a/c in the garage, but that cost a small fortune to a/c all the time here in central Florida. I have mixed red sea coral pro at 78 degree all the time.

good to know...I am switching from IO to RS Coral Pro..once my current IO batch is done...my house is 78 degrees in the summer (and 68 F in winter)

also good to know...as I'm switching to RS Coral Pro soon...

Thanks 4 heads up! I just did a normal 5g weekly change and have to check ALL parameters in morning. Did a quick check of ALK and it was at 9 with API... will do the Redsea kits in the a.m.

Hopefully all good. I figure my small water changes shouldn't cause to bad of a swing as it transitions. At least that was the thought process.

Thx

Ha we have not turn the heat on in three years in the winter. Like cold. Last winter I found out my heater could not keep up:rolleyes: got a good one then. I switched to Aquaforest reef salt from Red Sea coral pro, the tank is much better now and my alk runs around 8 instead being 10+

Haha... I did the exact opposite @jsker switching from Aquaforest to RSCP.

Plus I must have that thin blood my heat comes on when it hits 70! LoL!
