I live in Houston tx, i am working on trying to come up with a way to put my 20g mixing brute cans in my attic since my tank is on my second story of my house, i have walk in attick doors so would be way more conveint and not have to lug buckets up the stairs. Question is, it gets HOT HOT here of course in summers which would of course heat the water. Would this be catistrofic if i just planned out my water changes to allow enought time to bring down to my tank temp before doing the actual change? any input would be greatly appreciated.

I would just make sure you have good tight lids to avoid evaporation, and honestly it will probably take a while for the water to get down to appropriate temperature, so you will have to plan your WC in advance.

I don't keep my water in the attic but I keep it outside in Baton Rouge so it gets pretty hot in the summer and the water can get pretty cold in the winter. I used to have to plan way ahead to heat or cool the water before using but about a year ago I started doing small 3-4 gallon water changes on my ~130 gallon system and see no temp swings. Plus the small water changes are much faster than a big change and can be done without turning any pumps off in my system.
