Mixing station & uniseal

So I'm building a mixing station (see attached image). I plan to run the output line from the pump up top into the top of the storage tank - I was going to use a uniseal to push the pipe through all the way to the bottom. The top of the container (not the screw on top, the edges) is angled. If I were to drill a hole there and place a uniseal on and angle, would it be bad to push the pipe through that on an angle (pipe being vertical) (option 1) vs having it enter on the side near the top just before the angled top (option 2)?

I think if you put the uniseal on the angled section and tried to bring the pipe vertical you would just rip it out.
I would put it on the side and put a 90 in it to get to the bottom.

Right, I was considering that. If I do end up doing that, do you think I'm opening myself up to leaks if the water line goes above the uniseal?
 
Uniseals leak if they have any pressure on them. Specially if your going to use large diameter piping.

I would go through the side, and use a bulkhead not a uniseal.
 
I only use uniseals above the normal waterline on tanks for emergency drains. They are supposed to seal though and it would only be under a few inches of water, I do not remember which brand but there is an overflow box that uses them for the drains.
Bulkheads will not work on a curved surface usually.

So if I cannot use it below the water line (even a few inches) and I cannot use a bulkhead on the curved edge or curved angled edge, how do I route a tube into this tank??
 
I did not say they wouldn't work. Just that I have never used them. Many other people have.

A bulkhead has a nut you tighten. If you do it on a non-flat plastic surface it may crack. If you don't get an even compression on the gasket it will leak.

Either location you posted in the OP will probably work if you put an elboe to aim the pipe at the bottom while letting it go straight through the uniseal.
 
I have mine going in thru the top. It works just fine . the pipe is completely straight with the side. The uniseal makes up the angle part. I am at work. Don’t have a picture
I will put up a picture this weekend
 
Thanks this was super helpful! I ended up going with the uniseal as well. Looking back I think I'd do it on the vertical side as there is no good angle for it to come in on. However, I don't plan for the water to ever go above the top of the vertical area - aka never fill the tank all the way.
