Hi all,
I am gathering the equipment to set up my first reef tank and wanted to see how others here mix thier water when they set up a tank.
My tank is a 56 gal c. I have a sump on order, researched the return pump that I am going to use and pretty much shopping for the rest.
When I get to the point of mixing water, what is the best way to go about this. I can supply 18 gal of rodi water a day. Can I mix the salt water and add to the tank each day or do need to mix the amount that will fill the entire system?

Thanks

Either one will work. Me personally, I would just fill the entire tank up with RO/DI water and then mix in the salt. GL.

I was planning on adding live sand a live rock first before filling, so it should be mixed when added to the tank... If I go about it this way and add my LS and LR, is everything ok sitting in the saltwater with no filtration or circulation? It will take me 3 days to get enough water in the system to start the return pump.... Thanks for your help... Im new at this!

Fill you tank up first with water add the rock after and once you like your rock add the sand around the rock.
Your tank will be cloudy like a lot but that will clear up overtime.
Before you fill up your tank do a leak test with regular water first.
When tank is filled up with saltwater you can start up your pumps and what more, give your self some time to tweak the return and flow before you add the LR and LS.

Btw, make a build threat in on the members build section.
