I'm running an MJ1200 for a TLF reactor, and it hums/buzzes something awful. It's loud and intrusive. The upside is that I finally found out what the obnoxious hum/buzz was on my old 120g that I never figured out, lol. I've tried moving it around, moving the hose, etc and nothing makes it better. It isn't against the glass or any rocks. I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for a quieter pump to feed the reactor with.

FWIW to anyone, it seems to be noises because I throttle it back for the reactor, if I open it full blast it's quiet. Of course that's way more than the GFO can handle. Probably switch it for a much lesser pump that can be run virtually wide open instead.

You could tee off of the line going to your reactor. Then adjusting the ball valve just diverts water out the other end.

I'm going to guess that you have a newer Maxijet MJ1200. The original Maxijet was made by an Italian company, and they were quality pumps. For reasons of thinking they would save some bucks, they changed manufacturers to a Chinese company.....and these pumps are crap! The original pumps can still be had, but the name is now Cobalt MJ1200. The extra you pay is worth it.
